Before converting: the PDF is not the problem

Word handles a page more flexibly than we sometimes realize. Fonts, paper size, margins, paragraph spacing, and even an image near the bottom of a page can change the final layout. A small difference after conversion does not automatically mean the PDF is broken; it often means something in the source document needs a little adjustment.

02

Start with the right page size

If the document is meant for printing, make Word's page size match the PDF you expect. A4 is a sensible default for many documents. Then check the margins, especially if you have a wide table or a long header. This small step prevents a surprising number of lines from jumping to the next page.

03

Fonts and images cause most surprises

Use common fonts that are actually installed on the machine preparing the document. If a formal document depends on a very unusual font, check the result carefully. Images deserve similar attention: avoid placing them in fragile spots between paragraphs that may reflow. For important files, inspect the first and last page after conversion.

04

What about old DOC files?

If you have an old DOC file from an older version of Microsoft Word, you do not need to rewrite it just to convert it. Infinity Converter's Word to PDF path accepts both DOC and DOCX. Very old documents can still contain unusual fonts or legacy elements, so a quick visual check remains a good habit.

05

A simple check before you send it

Open the finished PDF on another device when the document matters. Search inside the text, check page numbers, and look at tables, images, and headers. A fifty-second review can save you from sending a formal document with a formatting surprise.

06

Test links and other clickable elements

If the document contains links to references, websites, or email addresses, do not assume they survived just because they still look blue. Open the finished PDF and click a couple of them. This matters especially for CVs and reports where an external reference is part of the document's usefulness.
