PNG is lossless and can keep sharp interface graphics and text-looking pixels cleaner than JPEG, but the output is still an image: it no longer contains the original selectable PDF text layer, links, or document structure.
What the engine actually does
Infinity opens the PDF with PyMuPDF, renders each page to a bitmap at a practical 150-DPI scale, and writes one PNG per page. Multi-page documents therefore create multiple output files, which the conversion engine packages into a single ZIP. No OCR step is added during this conversion, and interactive PDF features do not survive the page render.
